3 Create truly original Save the Date cards with this easy tutorial. I love the idea of adding a touch of DIY to your cards as it makes it that much more personal. This scratch card save the date is a fun and fresh way to save the date.

The following tutorial can be used for any type of invitation or stationery.

DIY scratch card save the date

You will need:
• Acrylic paint
• Washing up liquid
• Paint brush
• Sellotape
• Masking tape
• Card. Here we’ve used a personalised save the date card

What do do:
Start by pouring one dose of washing up liquid and two doses of acrylic paint into one container. Mix the two together. We chose gold paint for this design as it matches the colour underneath.

Next, cover the area you want to hide with sellotape. We recommend transparent tape.
Take your masking tape and stick it around this same area. Make sure it’s completely stuck to avoid paint getting underneath!
Using your paintbrush, paint over the area with your first layer of paint and let it dry for about an hour. Avoid putting too much paint on your paintbrush as you want to avoid any lumpy bits.
Add your second layer of paint and it dry again. You can add more layers if it looks too transparent but remember that the more layers you add, the more you will have to scratch afterwards.

When it’s completely dry, gently unstick the masking tape as not to rip off the paint.
Tadaa! Your very own Save the Date Scratch card!
